Hey friends — thanks for praying for us and cheering us on. God has been faithful through a lot of questions lately, and we wanted to share a little of what’s been going on. Pull up a chair.

Brenna stepped away from work.

A few weeks back, it became clear that it was time for Brenna to leave her job. No backup plan, just a sense that the Lord was asking her to trust Him with what comes next. She left on good terms, and honestly? The peace that followed was unexpected and kind of wild. We’re learning — slowly, sometimes reluctantly — that His presence really is the provision.

We explored starting a nonprofit… and then paused.

We started feeling our way toward launching something official, but something kept nagging at us. After some prayer and honest conversation, we decided to slow down and ask the Lord again what He was actually calling us toward. That was the right call. In the days that followed, several conversations and potential partnerships started opening up with groups already doing faithful work in McKinney. We went from praying for one answer to discerning among several. If you’re praying for us, that’s the thing to pray about — wisdom, clarity, and grace as we figure out what work and ministry look like in the months ahead.

Cal has not been sitting still in the meantime.

In January, he supported the PIT Count (the annual Point-in-Time count that helps communities understand and serve people experiencing homelessness), served shifts at both the Salvation Army and Emmanuel Labor’s Emergency Warming Stations, and kept showing up to the discipleship work we’ve been piloting with two men experiencing homelessness — all while helping hold down the home front. We’re tired in the best way.

The bigger picture is good.

Beyond our own story, we’re encouraged by what God is doing in this city. Leaders emerging, relationships being restored, hope showing up in places it didn’t used to live. We don’t need to be the ones doing it — we just get to be in the room. What a gift.

Thanks for being part of this with us. More updates to come.
